FOR MATT, WHO
PLAYS WITH HIS
EYES CLOSED, AND
MISSES MOST OF
THIS
I'm listening to you as you sing
but I'm watching
every one start moving their
lips to form your words
silently
singing along to all of your songs
Heads start nodding
in time to guitar strings
strumming "Miracles"
while
you're up front
in a white t-shirt under
the white lights your
eyes closed singing
while
slowly foot tapping audience graduates
to hips swinging slightly side to side
dancing in stillness
little tremors erupting from their within
while
sweat on your forehead
celebrates the moment
and me:
my foot is tapping and
my ears are waiting for that first
sweet voice from the crowd
to rise up and join hands in harmony
with yours and walk me up to and
through that door to paradise that
just opened
when that sweet chord tumbled
the tumblers of my mood to unlock my inhibitions
and swing me open
open me up from
pleasure to ecstasy
and
I know that I'll fall out of heaven sometime but
why worry about the fall when you're already falling
in love with the climb
you're flying me up
flying me up
rocket ship voice reaching high notes
soaring me up into the stratospheres of
my soul
and
O! We'll come down some time
but not before we all sing "Amazing"
O! how amazing you've made me feel
again
every time you sing
every time
you sing
you make me feel amazing again
How is it:
I am always falling asleep
and you're always waking me up
I'm always sleeping late and
and your every note is an alarm clock to
my soul
every note like a new song for
my heart to rejoice inside of
making it dance in my chest
and
we all fly up in space with you
all fly up in space to a place
built only for two
and we will all fall someday
fall like every one always has
but
until then every note feels like
a victory in my heart
every note feels like some
kind of
victory
