Here's a selection of my poetry.
Most of my poems do not have a title, so I've provided you with the first line of each poem, as well as a brief description.

#183: "It was one of those skies..."

I use the experience of seeing a beautiful sky to say something about working to find enlightenment.

#163: "It is spring, and so..."

An effusive poem that is an ecstatic reaction to spring time.

#233: "I'm listening to you as you sing..."

This was a poem about a Matt Nathanson show at the Bazaar Cafe in San Francisco. Matt is a friend of mine, who is just an amazing folk/rock singer song writer -- please check out his site.

#236: "Where are you now, Kate O' Brien?..."

A long poem...

This is a kind of love poem about a girl I never met, and never even spoke to. It is essentially about missed opportunities.

#86: "I am thirsty for you..."

This is an ecstatic love poem which briefly says something about barriers between people.

#136: "What kind of poem do you want?..."
So my friend Julie and I decided we were going to write a poem for each other. She asked me "What kind of poem do you want?" It became the first line of the love poem I wrote for her.

#217: "10:15 a.m...."
So this is based on something I saw in a Goodwill Industries parking lot. I'm continually surprised how many people really like this poem. When I wrote it, I really didn't think anything of it, but what do I know?

To Auburn, Section 2: "Going north to Seattle..."

"To Auburn, From Auburn" is a very long poem that documents a poetry road trip a bunch of us took the 4th annual Allen Ginsberg Marathon. This section features reflections on clouds, light, and how the Violent Femmes bring people together.

From Auburn, Section 8: "Exit 183 and Wilsonville again..."

"To Auburn, From Auburn" is a very long poem that documents a poetry road trip a bunch of us took the 4th annual Allen Ginsberg Marathon. This section features Wilsonville, demons, and snack food information.
