149: I find it so hard to believe/the child growing inside you...

I find it so hard to believe

the child growing inside you

even though I can feel

your belly beginning to dome

Sometimes we feel so close

that we’re almost synonyms,

but I know I could never do this

I will never know how it is

to have another life inside me,

so how is it you’re creating so unconsciously?

Your pregnancy makes me realize

all the limitations I inherited as a man

and I look at you with an awe

which grows and grows like the child inside you

that I find so hard to believe

And when you look at me

sometimes I feel like a father

even though

I am not.
