No matter how much I talk about freedom

the deepest part of me

the Jonathan only I know

still sits in a cell

waiting to be released

Listen, though,

let me tell you this:

the steel bars that surround

that part of my

self

do not restrain it

           for that shadow sits

           with the key in his hand

We all have that key in our hand

we only need the courage to use it

Freedom is the whole sum

of all of our potential

released

We only need the courage

to let our greatest secrets out

and know it will not matter

how they are judged

outside of our prisons

But no matter how much I talk about it

this freedom still scares me.
