Monday night at the poetry open mic

two lovers making out

          deep delicate kissing

                     tongues

on the couch

at the very back

          And I think:

poetry happens everywhere in this room!

(not just at the mic)

          two people making out

          on a couch

                      in public

to a poem

a poem!

           And I think:

what kind of poem is that?

is it a sonnet, a sestina, or free verse?

          And I think:

I want to have written that poem

a poem to kiss to!

a poem that manifests making out

I just got a glance and it was the most beautiful thing I’d seen all day

and I think:

I want to be a part of that

so please

          every one
