168: I want to say thank you/to you who come here...

I want to say thank you

to you who come here

only to listen

who heard something invisible speak

and were not afraid to bind your

self to it, and now you follow it

where ever you can

even though it’s not always safe

I want to thank you

for staying even past the midnight of our poetry

who are here because poetry happens here

and I want to thank you

because the poetry that happens

here is changed by your attention

you participate and make all this poetry happen

even if you don’t come up and read

reading is not poetry

poetry is being present

and every time I look

you’re here

thank you
