What have you thought of

since our last time together?

Have any of those thoughts

been about me?

I desperately want you to

tell me anything that might have

crossed your mind concerning us.

 

Did you hear that last word?

 

“us”

you and me

together

If you thought that word

even for a second

I

          am

                    saved

 

If not then I am still only me

and how limiting that seems now

after entertaining the other possibility

that,

 

          “us”
