210: Five hours asleep/after 21 hours awake...

Five hours asleep

after 21 hours awake

but I am awake

Awake!

as I step out into another

cloud covered Northwest day

But the light escapes from the

bottom of the clouds and

It Is Delicious!

Delicious light,

delicious light

means I am hungry.

I leave 14 South Division, Auburn

behind me in search for food

breakfast!

Five hours

five hours is enough to awake

and find breakfast on

and coffee

North West Coffee

any kind of coffee

but enough about coffee

I’m not writing a poem about coffee

I’m writing a poem about the day after

My throat not sore but

my voice scratched and

a little deeper than usual

I’m not sure they were used to

screaming, yelling emotional wreckage

—of the most optimistic vent

but anyway

it’s now the next day

and I duck into a greasy spoon

that’s not so greasy and

as soon as I get my coffee

(but remember this isn’t a poem about coffee)

I notice there is a real glass

sugar dispenser jar at the table

and not the annoying paper packaged sugar packets

and then,

2 pancakes, 2 eggs, 2 strips of bacon

and Hash-browns! when I order them

but only hash-browns when they arrive

the food comes fast

and the service is friendly

and I’ve got my two eggs over easy

and I raise my coffee cup to Sonia

who knows the importance of these things

here’s one for you Sonia where ever you are

and here’s one for the next day

after the Ginsberg Poetry Marathon

but let’s go

let’s get on our way

after all,

           It’s already the next day!
