I’m waiting

to cross the street

standing

stupidly staring ahead

when

all of a sudden

the mountains jump

forward

out of the background

and are no longer part

of the sky and

I blink

          and see

the walk light turns from

red to white, but

I don’t move

all I see are the mountains
