I have recognized

(inside your glance)

a moment of liquefaction

which

       quickly decays

                into faint

indecision

your plain curiosity and

               honest delight

    stifled

    and

   choked

by conventions of behavior

the answer to:

       How do I get me

       out of my way?

                         isn’t in yielding to fascination but

                    in speaking with

               the voice you had

          before you were born

     the one which does not speak of our lusts

or of our limitations     but

                               speaks

                     with authentic actions

                                    of what is essential—

--that we embrace

               (not our desires)

       but what is necessary 

               (for each of us)

                               to discover the authentic

       self buried 

                       naked

       under

       the facades

       it has been dressed up in

--that we embrace 

       the truth of us, lest we lose ourselves

                                           if we do not
